HOW TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT

Appointments can be made by telephoning 0844 4994470 for Hayfield or New Mills or by calling in at either surgery.

Routine appointments can be made up to two weeks in advance which will enable us to offer you appointment at a time more suitable to your requirements.

Arrangements can also be made to speak to a doctor or nurse on the telephone during their working day.

If you cannot keep an appointment, please inform us as soon as possible.

PRACTICE NURSES

Mrs Jill Dean RN. RSCN and Mrs Beverley Buttery RN are the practice nurses and are available by appointment.

Their numerous tasks include:-

• Taking blood for tests
• Infant and adult immunisations
• Cervical smears
• Dressings and removal of stitches
• Ear syringing
• Monitoring of blood pressure, asthma, diabetes, heart problems etc.
• Minor surgery  

Home Visits

Patients are requested to telephone before 10.30am if a visit is required that day. These visits are intended only for those patients who are housebound or who are genuinely too ill to attend surgery.

Emergency visits only will be arranged after that time. Please give the receptionist as much information as possible to enable the doctor to allocate priority to home visits.

The doctor strives to make the most appropriate decision at the time which might not necessarily include a visit at home.

House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Health Centre.

OUT OF HOURS SERVICES

If you think you may need to see a doctor out of hours, telephone 111 the new telephone service making it easier to access local health services urgently  When patients call 111 they will be assessed, given advice and directed straightaway to the local service that can help them best – that could be an out-of-hours doctor, walk-in centre, community nurse, emergency dentist or late opening chemist. NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and calls from landlines and mobile phones are free 

If necessary, you may be invited to attend the urgent care centre based at New Mills Health Centre, Hyde Bank Road, New Mills ( The Health Centre is situated on the left just past New Mills Leisure Centre) or you may be visited at home.

Opening hours are as follows;

• Monday to Friday 6.30pm – 10pm
• Saturday, Sunday & Bank Holidays 9.30am to 10.pm
