These fact sheets have been written to explain the role of UK health services, the National Health Service (NHS), to newly-arrived individuals seeking asylum. It covers issues such as the role of GPs, their function as gatekeepers to the health services, how to register and how to access emergency services.

Special care has been taken to ensure that information is given in clear language, and the content and style has been tested with user groups.

Appointments
Appointments can be made by telephoning 0844 4994470 for Hayfield or New Mills or by calling in at either surgery. Routine appointments can be made up to two weeks in advance which will enable us to offer you appointment at a time more suitable to your requirements.

Text service

We are now able to text you a reminder the day before your appointment if you are interested in this service please contact reception and give them your mobile phone number

Cancelling your Appointment
If you are unable to attend an appointment with one of the doctors or nurses, please telephone or use the link at the bottom of this page to cancel your appointment.

Home Visits
Patients are requested to telephone before 10.30am if a visit is required that day. These visits are intended only for those patients who are housebound or who are genuinely too ill to attend surgery. Emergency visits only will be arranged after that time
